Every day our skin is undergoing the normal process of sloughing older dead skin cells. In place of these dead cells, newer cells have traveled up through the layers of our skin. These new cells will replace the dead ones, and ultimately suffer the same fate. However, as we get older, the time required for the older cells to slough off increases, meaning that the older cells stay in place longer, causing our skin to be dull and aged.
Chemical peels accelerate the cell renewal process in three different ways. First, they resurface the first layer of skin to stimulate growth in the epidermis. Second, they cause slight, moderate, or severe damage to the skin purposely in order to replace it with healthier, normalized tissue by means of the skin wound healing process. Thirdly, deeper peels will induce the production of new collagen within the dermis. Chemical peels in various formulations can be used on almost all skin types.
Chemical peels can also treat various skin conditions including hyperpigmenation, acne, rosacea, sun damage, and aged skin. The newest solutions include blended chemical peels, which use a layered approach, followed by targeted ingredients to produce healthy and beautiful skin. These treatments are safe and can produce lasting results.
If you had to choose only one fruit for your overall health - one that could give you all the vitamins and minerals you needed, which one would you pick?
I bet you didn’t pick or guess cranberries, but the truth is, cranberries have it all!
Cranberries assist in repairing and preventing sun damage, enabling moisture retention, improving cellulite, disabling bacteria, providing a healthy scalp with shiny hair, and possibly reducing cancerous tumors. When you compare the phytonutrient values of fruits, cranberry would come in first place every time. They provide vitamins C, A, E, and K with an abundance of nutrients, minerals and amino acids. These red berries also are an excellent source of Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids, which have shown to improve collagen and elastin in skin fibers. Plus, they assist in the reduction of UV and environmental dam age.
The cranberry’s antioxidant content is higher than any of the top 20 common fruits. This high content helps reinvent and repair stress and age related degeneration while improving circulation.
The next time you reach for a glass of fruit juice, think cranberry!
Plastic Surgery Tip
Skin Tag Removal Surgery
We get a lot of questions about the how to remove skin tags because they can become unsightly or sore from rubbing caused by clothing or jewelry. We are unsure of the exact cause of skin tags but the leading thoughts are a genetic predisposition or a virus. Skin tags can be removed surgically through a simple office based procedure. Healing is usually complete within a week. We feel this is the best treatment because there is no proven evidence that topical treatments are effective. We’ve seen some terrible scars from topical acid removal.

Make sure you chose a board certified plastic surgeon. A call to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or ASPS at 1-888-4-PLASTIC (ie. 1-888-475-2784) can tell you which doctors are legitimate plastic surgeons with outstanding qualifications. You can also visit the ASPS web site at www.plasticsurgery.org. The ASPS is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. When considering a cosmetic surgeon, you should also make sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). A call to ASAPS (1-888-272-7711) or visiting the ASAPS website (www.plasticsurgery.org) can help you verify your plastic surgeons membership.
