Skin Care Tip
How to keep moisture in your skin during winter!
Its winter which means the air outside is frigid and dry and the indoor heat just leaves our skin more parched!
Skin moisturizers rehydrate the skin and seal in the moisture. In General, the thicker and greasier a moisturizer is, the more effective it will be. Some of the most effective are petroleum jelly and moisturizing oils, which precludes water loss without clogging the skin’s pores. Because these substances do not contain water, they are best used while your skin is still damp from bathing, to help seal in the moisture.
Other moisturizers will contain water as well as oil, varying in proportions. These moisturizers are less greasy and are more cosmetically appealing than petroleum jelly or oils.
To help replenish your skin with the indoor heat on, use a humidifier. Setting the humidifier level around 60% should be sufficient to replenish the top layer of the skin.
You can prevent chapping parched hands by switching to soap-free cleansers and alcohol-free hand sanitizers. These are less drying than washing your hands repeatedly with soap and water.

Pomegranate extracts show joint & skin health benefits
Pomegranates have been recognized for their excellent nutritional value and a rich beverage taste. However, recent studies have added new benefits to this touted fruit! According to a recent study, pomegranate fruits offer more than just beneficial vitamins and disease prevention. They have skin and joint health benefits too!
Pomegranate juice has numerous benefits to the skin. Its antioxidant properties are known to prevent skin cancer and various skin diseases. The high level of antioxidants keeps your skin young and delays signs of premature aging. Daily intake of this juice will ensure healthy and young looking skin! Applying pomegranate juice on your skin directly cures skin damage caused by over exposure to sun rays. It is a popular ingredient used in many lotions, creams, scrubs and several cosmetic products.
You can also reduce joint pain and inflammation with pomegranates. At the source of any joint pain is a cataract of enzyme reactions that lead to the body activating inflammation and ultimately pain. Pomegranates have been shown to halt the enzyme reactions before the inflammation is able to occur and reduce pain as a result.
Plastic Surgery Tip
Chicago Tummy Tuck
A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through diet and exercise. However, sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals.
If you’ve got excess skin in your abdomen that may have accumulated from pregnancy, obesity or age, you are the right candidate for an abdominoplasty! Also known as tummy tuck.
This type of surgery will remove excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen while tightening both the skin and upper abdomen with the abdominal muscles.
The technique chosen for abdominal rejuvenation depends on many factors, based on the patient’s expectations, the amount of fat or excess skin and the amount of laxity of the muscles in the abdominal wall.
At the initial consultation, you board certified plastic surgeon will evaluate your health, determine the extent of fat deposits in your abdominal region, and carefully assess your skin tone. Be certain to let your surgeon know if you smoke, and if you are taking any medications and vitamins.
The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia, either in the hospital or in an outpatient setting.

Make sure you chose a board certified plastic surgeon. A call to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or ASPS at 1-888-4-PLASTIC (ie. 1-888-475-2784) can tell you which doctors are legitimate plastic surgeons with outstanding qualifications. You can also visit the ASPS web site at www.plasticsurgery.org. The ASPS is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. When considering a cosmetic surgeon, you should also make sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). A call to ASAPS (1-888-272-7711) or visiting the ASAPS website (www.plasticsurgery.org) can help you verify your plastic surgeons membership.
